Event Schedule – Great Sydney Swim
Registration
On arrival please proceed to the Registration area to collect your timing chip and race pack. If you have not already entered online please ensure you arrive as early as possible and before 7.30am to enter and register on the day. All participants must register prior to 8.15am in order to compete - remember the earlier you arrive the faster the process.
Competitors will receive their race pack and swim cap at registration.

When and where is the swim on?
The Body Science Great Australian Swim Series is held across the summer of 2012/13 on the following dates and times
Round 1: Great Gold Coast Swim – Part of the Coolangatta Gold, Coolangatta SLSC on Sunday 14th October 2012, 8.45am first race
Round 2: Great Hamilton Island swim – Hamilton Island on Sunday 11th November 2012, 11:00am first race
Round 3: Great Brisbane swim - on Sunday 25th November 2012, 9:00am first race
Final: Great Sydney Swim – Farm Cove, Opera House on Saturday 26 January 2013 (Australia Day) 8:30am first race
What time does the race start?
Race start times are as follows:
Great Gold Coast Swim: 8.45am first race
Great Whitehaven Swim: 11.00am first race
Great Brisbane Swim: 9.00am first race
Great Sydney swim: 8.30am first race
How do I enter?
You can enter online here using your credit/debit card. Entries will close 24 hours prior to the first race at each event. If you are not able to enter online you can enter on the day up to 30 minutes before the start of the first race.
How much does it cost to enter?
2.2km Swim $50
750m Swim $40
300m Swim $25

What time is the presentation?
The presentations will take place as follows:
Great Gold Coast Swim: 11:30 noon at the Coolangatta Surf Life Saving Club
Great Brisbane Swim 11:15am outside Redcliffe Surf Life Saving Club
Great Sydney Swim 11:00am on the stage at the steps of the Opera House
First, Second and Third Male and Females for the 300m, 750m and 2.2km swim will be presented on stage along with the Series Champions and random draw prizes. All other age and Anything Goes category winners are asked to check the information board next to the registration tent and collect any prizes.
Can I get a refund on my registration?
There are no refunds or transfers for this event.
Do I receive a race pack?
Everyone who pre-registers for the Body Science Great Australian Swim Series will receive a race pack. Same day registrations will receive a race pack while stocks last.
What happens if the race is cancelled?
The Body Science Great Australian Swim Series organizers reserve the right to cancel the race due to rough or dangerous conditions. In the event of cancellation, there will be NO REFUND of entry fee and the event will NOT be re-run. A decision will be made ASAP on race day and advised via this website.
Can I wear a wetsuit or use swimming aides?
If you wish to wear a wetsuit or use swimming aides you must enter the ANYTHING GOES category in either the 2.2km or 750m race. Flippers, pool buoys and wetsuits are all permissible, water craft of any description are not allowed to be used.
What if I want to swim with my mates or family and we are not in the same age category?
If you wish to swim with mates or family who are not in the same age category as you, you must enter the ANYTHING GOES category in either the 2.2km or 750m race.
Is there a race for kids with special needs?
Yes. The Great Brisbane Race and The Great Gold Coast Race both have a 150m race for kids under 15 with special needs who wish to compete. Please contact us if you wish to enter this section.
What do I do if I get in trouble in the water?
Raise your hand. Each event is supported by the local surf lifesaving clubs and qualified surf lifesavers will be on the water throughout the event on both Inflatable Rescue Boats, water craft and rescue boards. Water safety officers are positioned at each turning buoy while additional surf lifesavers will patrol along the course. Water safety is in radio communication and access to first aide and medical officers in attendance.
Where can I put my belongings?
A baggage storage area will be available at each event. Belongings must be in a bag and volunteers will label the bag with your race number. We request you do not place valuables in your bag.
